Introducing Aberdeen Charities Together

Aberdeen Charities Together (ACT) is a consortium of registered charities working for the benefit of local causes in the City of Aberdeen. These Charities have come together so that the employers and employees of local businesses can be given the opportunity to help a wide range of local charities through the Government’s payroll giving scheme.
Any donations will be shared between the members of ACT, giving donors the opportunity to support many local charities with 1 simple payment.

The Basics of Payroll Giving

Employees

Payroll giving is a cheap and easy way to give to charity. Since it comes out of your pay it is gross of tax so it costs you less, the tax man pays the rest.
If you’re a lower rate tax payer then a gift of just £3.90 from you will give the charity £5.
If you pay the higher rate then it costs you just £3 for the same.
As an added incentive the tax man will also double the first 6 months so the charity could get £10 when you give just £3.
It’s also nice and easy. Once your company is signed up you just need to let your payroll know how much of a gift you want to make and they’ll deduct it from your paycheque each month. If you want to change or cancel it you only have to let them know, so no hassle with direct debits or covenant tie ins.
After that we do the rest, you’ve done your bit!

Employers

Payroll giving is easy to set up. Just download the forms available here. And for an added bonus you might be able to get a government grant for setting it up.

If you are a Small Medium Employer (SME) with fewer than 500 employees and you sign up for Payroll Giving before December 2006, you will be entitled to a government cash incentive of up to £500 to assist you with setting up the scheme.

UCAN’s aim is to make life better for those affected, by listening to patients and families about the care, treatment and support they receive in order to improve services. The charity will also explore new ideas in care by establishing a North of Scotland Urological Centre of Excellence and raising the awareness of these cancers throughout the area.
